I just love good music. Stuff that really touches your soul ya know (Yes, that sounds lame, I know.)? But that is exactly what the music of both Matt Wertz and Ben Rector does. They sing songs about love and life and everything in between.
So I was THRILLED to find out that they would be making an appearance in Pittsburgh together! Now I had seen Matt a few times and although I thought I knew what to expect he really blew me away! His has this amazing voice and when he belts out his lyrics they are dripping with emotion! He has this amazing ability to just engulf you his vocals until you don't even realize what's going on around you.
Now while Ben may seem quiet when he gets behind his keyboard and starts performing you see a different person. He has a smooth bluesy voice that you cannot help but to have fun while listening to! My favorite part his set is when he really got the crowd going with making up lyrics about Peter Pan on the fly! I also really enjoyed his song "The Beat". It's this poppy/super catchy song that warrants a top tap once it comes on. For more music, the great charity work that Matt is doing for the people of Africa and other cool stuff check out both Matt and Ben's sites!
A brief interview with Ben and Matt!

The 30-year-old Pop star (YES she's 30!) will be giving Mtv and us a special inside look at the process of making her latest album Femme Fatale. We see her meet up will Will.I.AM to work on her song "Big Fat Bass", talk about her chaotic life and perform in Vegas. This is not the first time Brit has let the public so deep into the inner workings of her life and I think that out interest in the Pop Princess will NEVER fade. Britney Spears: I Am Femme Fatale airs on April 3rd. I'm really looking forward to this and can't wait to see what shenanigans Brit has in store for us! Catch more videos on the MTV site!
The Friday Night Lights star sprints around Hollywood adorned in full superhero digs. Tone of fans were on hand to watch the scenes and Palicki posed for pics between takes! The NBC reboot of the show also stars Cary Elwes and Elizabeth Hurley. So will Wonder Woman have a heroic return? What do you guys think??
Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights) was hanging out in Vegas with the Mtv crew for Spring break and decided tog ive us a little snippet of what's to come in Scream 4! The clip features Teegarden (who I didn't even know was is Scream 4!) fleeing from ghost face who just broke through the window! This feels like a classic Scream scene and I am SO excited for its release on April 15th.
With every bit of news about the project from director David Fincher (Zodiac, The Social Network) my excitement grows; from Rooney Mara first being photographed in costume as lead character Lisbeth Salander until now getting a look at Daniel Craig who will being playing Mikael Blomkvist and Mara on set!I am in the middle of the second book (The Who Played with Fire) which is part of a trilogy by Steig Larsson and it is every bit as exciting and thrilling and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Check out more photos after the jump!
All that working out must be the reason why 41-year-old looks so great on the cover of the upcoming issue of Esquire! Despite the fact that McConaughey doesn't do as many films as he use to he still has quite a presence in Hollywood. You can catch him in his latest film The Lincoln Lawyer which also stars Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillippe which is in theaters now. Check out some of what he had to say in his interview here!
On taking time off between movies:“I’ve done that before. I went to Peru after A Time to Kill. I had a lot to think about. Just grabbed a bag and left. And I went up and further in, until I was about as uncomfortable and unfamiliar with things as I could be. You know why I don’t go to Europe for these trips? Because in Europe everything pretty much works, or it almost works. I mean, it’s almost what I’m used to. But Peru, Mali, Morocco? Nothing works. Nothing. So you have to give up on what you know.”
On people’s perception of him: “Do I think the image of me is a true picture of who I am? No, it’s incomplete. But things about me that are out there — I’m not going to say they’re false. Am I a fun-loving guy, man? Who likes running around in the summer with his shirt off, man? Am I a guy who likes to hang out with his friends, and party and go to concerts and football games with his friends? Well, yeah! Yes, I am. Always have been. Always hopefully will be. You know?”
Britney Spears is heading out on tour for her new album Femme Fatale and while a Britney show alone is exciting enough this time she's teaming up with Enrique Iglesias! The twosome will hit the road in June for a Summer tour that is sure to blow your mind. SO can you guys handle all that sexy in one place?? If you're ready than here are the tour dates!
**UPDATE Enrique will not be touring with Brit. The Pop star recently tweeted,
Hey guys, sorry for the confusion regarding a possible tour in the summer with Britney Spears. We are on the Euphori...
and continues to say that he is on a solo tour to promote him new album Euphoria and will be having some US dates soon! The statement comes after his camp released this,
"Unfortunately, Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears will not be touring together," his rep said. "Despite initial reports based on formal discussions of the possible run, Enrique will continue on his solo tour in support of his new album EUPHORIA. Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone."
Now while it's cool that both of these huge stars are on tour separately it's kind of bummer knowing that they will not be combining their powers for one epic concert event! Are you guys as disappointed as I am??
Well to cheer you up check out BRITNEY'S tour dates after the jump!
With that mesmerizing gaze, practically non-existant shorts and a cover caption that reads, “Pop’s Queen of Pain on Sexting, Bad Boys & Her Attraction to the Dark Side” it is hard not to be intrigued by the Pop Star with the haunting vocals. And now we can hear what's on her mind in the latest issue of Rolling Stone on News Stands April 1st. I think Rihanna is amazing and am excited to read what she has to say. So will you guys be picking up your copy of RS with the girl who's "perfectly good at being perfectly bad"??
It was just announced yesterday that two big roles have been cast for some seriously talked about upcoming films. Amy Adams (The Fighter) was filled in that she was cast as Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's (300, Watchmen) Superman reboot, Superman: Man of Steel while on the phone with Snyder! She will be joining Henry Cavill (The Tudors) who was cast as lead about a month ago. Adams will definitely command the screen and I believe will add a great dynamic to the role of Lane and make it an even more compelling character. This is an exciting choice with a lot of expectations for Adams, and I don't she'll disappoint.
Also, the lead role in the book series being turned into a film, The Hunger Gameswas cast. And it's none other then up and comer Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone, X-Men: First Class).
The actress will play Katniss Everdeen, a young woman who joins a fight-to-the-death contest to save her community.
Sounds awesome right?! Now I have yet to see Winter's Bone but it is most certainly on my list and it is said that Lawrence gives one heck of a performance! Again, I think this is another great choice! You can just tell that Lawrence has a lot of spunk and has every intention of bringing that to her role and this will be no different.
So are you guys excited about these casting choices and films?? Let me know in the comments below!
In case you guys have missed them I wanted to share with you two new full length trailers for some upcoming films that look awesome and that I'm pretty excited for.
First up Super 8! This film directed by JJ Abrams ( Star Trek) about a group of kids in a small town to capture an epic event on film while making a movie with a super 8 camera looks haunting, thrilling and emotional all thrown into one pot, which makes for a great film recipe. What do you guys think of this Steven Spielberg backed flick which stars Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights)?
Next up, Captain America. Now there has been TONS of buzz about this action packed film that will be the final chapter of Marvel films to come out before leading up to the big finale of Joss Whedon's Avengers' film. Surprisingly , the biggest shocker about this project isn't that director Joe Johnston managed to make the period piece really interesting with WWII as it's backdrop but how freakin' skinny Chris Evans who plays the lead looks! Someone even referred to it as "Christian Bale, Machinist Skinny".
So do you guys think the Captain will rescue us from another tired Superhero movie or will it fall by the wayside with the recent string of mediocre comic book films to have come out??
News hit just a few days ago Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) was cast as Vivien Harmon in the pilot for FX's new show from Ryan Murphy (Glee) and his creative partner onNip/Tuck, Brad Falchuck. Although there aren't an abundance of details about the project there are however character details for the upcoming show that have been released and from the descriptions it looks as though Murphy is really getting back to his Nip/Tuck roots.
Ben Harmon: Though as sensitive as a woman, this 40ish therapist is also a man’s man.
Vivien Harmon: Ben’s gorgeous wife, she is a force to be reckoned with in spite of her vulnerable demeanor.
Violet: The Harmons’ 16-year-old daughter is a Goth with more issues than a Borders magazine rack.
Tate Langdon: This 17 year old is as dangerous as he is seductive. And not “GLEE’s Puck dangerous,” either; we’re talking “Charles Manson dangerous.”
American Horror Story definitely seems dark, gritty and twisted much like Nip/Tuck. I think the show is going to awesome and Connie Britton is a brilliant actress and after watching her on several seasons of Friday Night Lights I think that she will be a perfect fit for the role of Vivien. What do you guys think??
Now despite the fact that I'm an 'Nsync girl I've gotta give The Backstreet Boys their props! They did come first afterall, and I don't think I'll EVER stop loving "Everybody". BSB had TONS of fun songs and I always looked forward to seeing Nick Carter in their videos (love him!). However, "I Want it that Way" is one of the few videos from the group that is really different and truly shows their adoration for their fans. This takes me back to the days where I had Teen Bop pictures of my favorite pop groups plastered all over my bedroom walls, ah the memories. Hope you guys enjoy!
** Special thanks to Rose Kalgren for this weeks' Throwback!
There were some great guest on TV talk shows this week and I thought I'd share them with you! Chord Overstreet and Vanessa Hudgens hit up The Elen Show while Jake Gyllenhaal went on Jimmy Kimmel. Check out all the fun here!
Chord shows us if he's a boxers or briefs kind of guy!
Vanessa talks about her split from Zac and getting her surf on!
Jake makes fun of Jimmy's tie and talks about his 30th birthday party!
Adrian Grenier better known by his character Vincent Chase from the hit HBO show Entourage tweeted about one of the best things you can in under 140 characters yesterday! The actor first off promised to be more attentive to his Tweeps and write more on his account. But the best news was that he shared with us the reason for his lack of tweets has been due to his move back to LA for the filming of Season 8 of Entourage which will likely be the shows' last. And although no details were revealed it's still nice to know that it is happening.
Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been around but I moved back to LA 4 Entourage 8. I will be more attentive.
This is such a huge deal to have this confirmed since it was rumored for a while that this season wasn't even going to happen. Season eight is suppose to be a short season consisting of only about eight or so episodes that will likely wrap up the epic events that took place over the course of last season.
Speaking of last season, it was one of my favorite seasons of the show yet. While I like the first few seasons of the show a lot, my love began to fade around the fourth season. The problem lied within the shows ability to present us with these really great and interesting story lines but then evade them completely and leave us unfulfilled. So it was nice to see the show take a risk in its seventh season and present us with some really compelling plots and follow through for once! It was brilliant and has me really excited to see what's next for Vinnie Chase and his Crew. So what did you guys think of last season? Did it warrant a follow up with Season eight??
It is always exciting to hear the news that we are getting new music from the "Princess of Pop" but it's even BETTER when it's actually here! Britney Spears' seventh studio album Femme Fatale is jam packed with fun songs that you will most likely dance to drunkenly while out at the club. The songs are so damn catchy and hard to resist, much like the Pop star herself. Many of the reviews for 'Femme Fatale' sing it's praises as well. Now, while I only really like a solid half of the albums songs; the songs I DO like are so fantastic that it makes the ones I don't like as much seem irrelevant. This album is definitely more spunky and raunchy than her previous Circus album and closely resembles Blackout and showcases that Brit's carer is loooong past the days of "Hit me Baby one More Time". Be sure to check out the album and let me know what you guys think!
**My favorite tracks
-'Til the world ends' -'Inside out' -'Up n down' -'Trouble' -'He about to lose me'
More photos from the album and Brit's Thank-You's after the jump!
First off, i would like to thank God and my loving family for all their unconditional love. My amazing boyfriend, Jason, I love you and thank you for being a part of my life. My wonderful long time managers, Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber and everyone at ReignDeer Entertainment. Edan, thanks for keeping me safe. All my peeps at JIVE Records. Barry Weiss, you will be SO missed! All my great producer, specially Max Martin and Dr. Luke and everyone else who has helped with this album along the way, you all know who you are and that you are appreciated. A special thank you to Brett Miller, my assistant for letting me be the biggest pain in the ass. Professional thank yous go out to Ken Hertz, Seth Lichtenstein and Tom Hansen for making sure everything is legal and to Lou Taylor, Robin Greenhill and Tri Star for counting my pennies.I love you guys.
So if thought you NBC's new show The Voice was gonna be like all the rest of those vocal competitions on television, well think again. Despite appearing on the surface as such, with its celebrity judges (Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton) and Carson Daly as our Ryan Seacrest (yes, Cason Daly is back!) The Voice will be handled in a drastically different way. The contestants auditioning for the show will participate in blind auditions. The judges will have their backs to the singers and only hear, well...their voice (duh). The other interesting thing is that the winner will recieve the personal help of the judges team of producers and songwriters which really adds a personal touch. So what do you guys think of this whole concept?? Are you ready to get an earful on The Voice??
Ah, the days of slaying vampires and and playing a preppy bitch in I Know What you did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions seem so long ago (in case you're wondering I don't count the Scooby Doo movies). Well, the bitchy blond character that we all know and love for Gellar to play is making it's way back onto our TV screens! The Ringer is a new show for CBS that the 33-year-old actress will make her return to acting with. The character sounds right up Gellar's acting style having to deal with the drama of finding both redemption and revenge. Check out the somewhat fuzzy and confusing plot details released about the show stating,
“It’s an edgy thriller about redemption and about revenge. There’s a point of view of two twin sisters who grew apart over a tragedy in their past. And one now seeks redemption and the other one seeks revenge. The sister who is seeking redemption has had a much more troubled life. When her fancy pants sister disappears, she takes over her life. She’s living the life of her more successful sister only to come to find out that her life is equally as fraught with danger and complication. Her sister dies in a boating accident. The other sister takes on her persona, only to come to find out that they have a hit out on her.”
I am excited to see Gellar return to work and interested to see how the plot of the show unfolds. It has potential to be a good drama. What do you guys think??
I was listening to this really awesome Livestream concert that was set up and featured artist like Hanson and The Boxer Rebellion which the concept only was awesome enough to keep my attention. And then, Charlie Mars came on to perform and it got even BETTER. First of all, let's talk about his name for a second how bad ass is that? And if that isn't cool enough he got Mary Louise-Parker (Weeds) to be in the debut single "Listen to the Darkside" which is off of his fifth album, Like a Bird, Like a Plane. I really dig this Mississippi singer/songwriter and I think you will too! Enjoy! And also check out the Livestream benefit for Japan! Great cause, great concert.
Live Version of 'Darkside'
Really cool video for his song "Meet me by the Backdoor"
This week's Throwback Video of the Week is from one of my all time FAVORITE bands Incubus! Their single "Wish You Were Here" was the first single released back 2001 off of the album Morning View which is responsible for my eternal love for these guys. My love of for Incubus started as most of bands' that I'm a fan of, I had crush on the lead singer! duh! However, my love of Brandon Boyd front man for the rock group began to play in the background to the bands' music ( which is how it should be). I have been following the band ever since. Through a change is member which had the band embody a new sound after switching from bassist Dirk Lance for Ben Kenney who played on the Roots album Phrenology gave the and a funkier sound on their last few albums. I have been lucky enough to see these guys on three different tours Morning View Sessions, A Crow Left to Murder, and Light Grenades and they are just as amazing live as they are on their albums! I really like how both the song and video capture having that perfect moment and wishing someone special was there to experience it as well. Enjoy!
**Special thanks to Ashley Lynch for this weeks' Throwback Video
Megan Fox is in talks to be a part of Judd Apatow's Knocked Upspinoff. The Hollywood Reporter released the info but it was not mentioned what role Fox would have. If this goes through, Fox's career will be on the path to making quite the comeback! She is also set to star alongside Jon Hamm and Adam Scott in Friends with Kids.
The spinoff would be handled by original Knocked Up director Judd Apatow. Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann will reprise their roles as the hilarious married couple of Pete and Debbie. However, this time , their relationship will be the main focus of the film.
So do you guys think Fox would be a good fit in one of Apatow's comedic masterpieces??
The video for the Black Eyed Peas latest single "Just Can't Get Enough" was released today. The video, which was filmed in Japan just a week before the devastating disaster is an account of a typical day on the road for the group. Front-woman Fergie, had this to say,
"It was the easiest video I ever shot because it was us living our lives. I love that it's showing a true perspective of how it can sometimes be lonely on the road away from our loved ones. It also demonstrates the love and connection we have with Japan. Our heart goes out to all of the Japanese people who have been affected by this natural disaster."
Although the song gets a little overproduced at the end I thinks it's the groups' best song in a long time. And I like the simple video concept as well. What do you guys think??
If an episode of Glee opens with Darren Criss throwing papers in the air and belting out Maroon 5's "Misery" you know it's gonna be a good one! There was so much that this episode, Original Song did right that it is hard to know where to begin.
First, we'll start with the Warblers being called out by Kurt as basically being "Blaine and the Pips" rather than a real Glee Club. It was great to see the issue addressed and it also opened up the opportunity to allow Kurt to have a solo at Regionals which I was thrilled about (Although I didn't really think the Hey Monday! 'Candles' song went off that well)!
Speaking of Kurt and Blaine, oh yeah, THEY FINALLY GOT TOGETHER! To be honest, I really didn't know if it was ever going to happen. The show dangled the idea of them being together in front of us like a carrot over the course of the entire season. And just when you were over it and ready for Kurt to find someone else, the show catches you off guard and they finally kiss. It caught me by surprise and was one of my favorite scenes from this episode.
Moving on to the show tackling the process writing it's original song. I have never laughed harder! Mr. Shue handing out rhyming dictionaries, and with songs such as "Trouty Mouth", "Big Ass" and "Hell to the No" making their debuts was priceless! The reason this worked so well is that the show poked fun at exactly what everyone thought they were going do, which is write a really crappy original song. A shows'/movies' ability to know what it is and at times make fun that is really endearing to me and something that I am a HUGE fan of.
So how did Glee do with coming up with their own original songs?? Let me preface this answer with the fact that this was one of the BIGGEST things that critics scrutinized the show for; equating the performances on the show to glorified Karaoke. So needless to say, this was risky for the show to do. They were gambling that they could quiet some of the critics by this bold move and if they didn't it would certainly be the point at which the show would begin a downward spiral. And while the show will NEVER be able to please everyone out there they absolutely nailed the original material in my opinion. With their ballad "Get it Right" they really got to showcase the talent of Lea Michele and made her more likable than ever pitted against a conniving and just plain mean Quinn. There is a scene where Michele's character goes through the pain and agony of being told that she will never have her picture perfect life with Finn and in the process of this painful moment writes her song through blurry, tear filed eyes that is just brilliant! Not only did Rachel's character come off extremely likable this episode but Mr. Shue was better than ever as the super caring and enthusiastic Glee Club Director. You could not help but to smile as you watched him being so proud of his students. The other orignal song, "Loser Like Me" was super catchy and while it sounded much like a cheesy pop song along the lines of "Party in the USA", it encapsulated everything the show has been about since day one, which is be proud of who you are (Yes, I know, very "after school special" type of message, but hey, it's TRUE!).
Simply put, this episode of Glee embodied all the things that the show does SO wonderfully well. It was emotional, funny, and campy and it did so effortlessly. Creator Ryan Murphy is incredibly smart and talented when it comes to executing his ideas and I hope for more episodes done this well. I give this episode an A+ for the show knowing it was an orignal all along but finally showing it.
So what did you guys think?? Check out the Original Songs after the jump and let me know!
Jason Bateman who played Michael Bluth on the wonderfully hilarious show Arrested Development recently chatted with MTV about the progress...lack there of the upcoming AD movie. Bateman joked around about the minimal amount of news on the project but sincerely felt bad about disappointing the fans. Check out the interview where Bateman informs that he has at least talked to the shows creator, Mitchell Hurwitz and that he thinks it's "Incredible"!
Okay, so I could go on and on about how much I love the Scream trilogy and how unbelievably excited I am for the fourth installment coming in April but that could quite possibly be the longest post EVER, warranting being called a novel. So instead I'll just let trailer speak for itself and hopefully it will raise your excitement about the project too! Just in case your low on details about the project, the original cast will be retuning ( Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette) for the project along with original director, Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes) and original Writer, Kevin Williamson (Dawson's Creek). Joining the vets however are slew of young Hollywood including the like of Hayden Panettiere and Emma Roberts. In addition there will be lots of fun appearances from the likes of Anthony Edwards, Adam Brody, Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin.
The plot revolves around main character Sidney Prescott returning to her former High School as a guidance counselor. Shortly after she begins to relive the horrific events that took place in her hometown of Woodsboro as a new killer is on the lose and terrorizing the suburban neighborhood. So what do you guys think of the trailer??
In some unfortunate news, Wes Craven has commented,
"There was a bumpy period when things shifted over from Kevin to Ehren. I signed up to do a script by Kevin and unfortunately that didn't go all the way through the shooting."
He added
"That it is "not entirely" his film but his job is "much more bringing whatever experience and expertise and creativity I can".
As a big fan and for the franchises sake I hope that Scream 4 is very much a Wes Craven film.
For all you Yankees fans out there and also fans of hot women, you're in for a treat! This month Derek Jeter and Rihanna are on the covers of GQ and Vogue. See what the shortstop and pop princess had to say about whats going on in their lives as of lately and more photos after the jump!
“My parents always told me, ‘There’s always going to be someone that’s better.’ But there’s no reason why someone should outwork you. That’s just an excuse.”
On his string of high-profile relationships (he’s currently dating actress Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights/The Roommate)):
“I understand the interest. I do I understand people want to know. I get that. And I think in terms of your career, your occupation, they can know anything they want. [But] some things should be kept private.”
On staying out of the tabloids:
“Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I didn’t go out and have fun. But there’s been a lot of players that come to New York and get caught up in the lifestyle, and before you know it, they’re sent away to another team because it affected their performance. My number one priority was on the field. I’ve had fun. It’s not like I’ve never gone out; I’ve done a lot of things. But I’ve always kept sight of my number one priority.”
On filming Battleship in Hawaii:
“There were all these people, cameras, and huge cranes out in the middle of the ocean. And I got to do some stunts, which was incredible. I loved it - especially diving into the ocean.”
On becoming content with her body (Don't know why she wouldn't be!):
“Over the holidays, and even during filming, I realized that I actually like my body, even if it’s not perfect according to the book. I just feel sexy. For the first time, I don’t want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up. My body is comfortable, and it’s not unhealthy, so I’m going to rock with it.”
On fashion:
“It’s become more about taking a risk. When I am putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work. I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that’s a little off, but I have to figure it out. I have to make it me. I think that’s the thrill in fashion.”
